The Nicaraguan Institute of Fisheries and Aquaculture (INPESCA) was created in the year two thousand and seven, by Act 612 "Law Amendments and Additions to Law 290 Law on the Organization, Competence and Procedures of the Executive Branch" as an autonomous body under the decentralized sectoral steering role of the Presidency of the Republic. Transferring to this the powers vested in the National Fisheries and Aquaculture and Natural Resources Department both the Ministry of Development, Industry and Trade in fisheries and aquaculture
Nicaraguan Institute of Fisheries and Aquaculture is an institution of the state for administration, development, promotion and accountable and transparent control of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources of Nicaragua, ensuring sustainability, Environmental Equity, Economic and Social Council.
