The product concept exploited by SALT was conceived by leading experts in materials and underwater warfare working in the UK Ministry of Defence’s, Defence Science and Technology Laboratories, Dstl. The project which delivered SonarBell from inception to sea-bed prototype and thence to Start-up Company over the last 18 months has been driven by Ploughshare Innovations Ltd, Dstl’s technology transfer company.
Although still relatively young, the company which started in August 2008 has already won worldwide recognition for its SonarBell product and is putting a number of design and production contracts in place.The SonarBell family of products, and many applications thereof, are increasingly the subject of worldwide patents owned and proactively defended by the Ministry of Defence produced under licence by SALT.
SALT’s highly supportive production partner, Avon Rubber plc has already manufactured units of varying sizes from 50mm to 200mm and we look forward to continued and closer working relationship as we move forward to increasing production.
