On 24 June 2011, Richard Lochhead MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and the Environment, announced a refreshed stakeholder engagement plan covering fisheries management and seafood supply. Part of this new approach involves the establishment of a new fisheries co-management group, the Fisheries Management and Conservation (FMAC) Group.
FMAC will build on the Conservation Credits Steering Group (CCSG) and will be a decision making body and discussion forum concerned with all issues connected to sea fisheries management.
FMAC will be chaired by Marine Scotland and will have representatives from:
Fishing industry representative bodies
Fish Producer Organisations
Environmental organisations
Marine Scotland policy and science
As with CCSG, other UK administrations will be invited to attend as observers of FMAC.
