York-Benimaru is filling pantries all over Tohoku. The company is a leading supermarket chain in Japan's Tohoku region (north of Tokyo) with about 165 grocery superstores throughout the region and in the greater Tokyo area. Store banners include York Mart, and Sanei Supermarkets. Products range from fresh, processed, and convenience grocery items to apparel and household goods. Its Seven Premium private brand of grocery items and other products account for a growing portion of the company's sales. The Japanese retail conglomerate Seven & i Holdings, a holding company comprised of Ito-Yokado and many other Japanese retail chains, acquired York-Benimaru in 2006 and made it its core supermarket holding.
