A group of Grimsby fish processors and businessmen have formed a company called The Great Grimsby Seafood Village Ltd to finance, develop and build a seafood village complex to house 20 small to medium sized fish processors and associated support businesses on a self contained 4 acre site within the Grimsby Fish Docks at a cost of £2.4 million.
The rationale behind this action is to ensure that the bulk of the fish processing businesses survive and continue to operate by providing state of the art facilities to replace their current ageing and inadequate premises. This new facility would comply with all environmental and safety requirements for years to come, safeguard jobs, knowledge and expertise and continue to provide products and services to the fish processing industry in the area.
?Each unit has 2,000 square foot of floor space with an additional 2,000 square foot of office space on the upper level. The units are finished to a sufficient standard to allow immediate occupation and operation.
24/7 site security is provided on the enclosed as well as plenty of parking for refrigerated containers and fish processors.
The overall facility has been designed to incorporate a wide range of environmentally friendly measures including waste management, recycled water and waste water treatment.
By combining all the units on one site, it is planned to share facilities such as fish waste collection, cold stores, distribution centre and other common fish processes.
