The objectives of the South Indian Ocean Fisheries Agreement (SIOFA) are to ensure the long-term conservation and sustainable use of the fishery resources in its area of competence through cooperation among the Contracting Parties, and to promote the sustainable development of fisheries, taking into account the needs of developing States that are Contracting Parties to the Agreement, and in particular the least-developed among them and small island developing States. SIOFA is not a regional fishery "body" (RFB); it is a regional fishery "arrangement" (RFA), as referred to in several provisions of the 1995 United Nations Fish Stocks Agreement. It has neither a seat nor a permanent secretariat. Members: Australia, Cook Islands, European Union, Mauritius, Seychelles. There is no website for SIOFA.
