Sociedad Mejillones América S.A was started in 2007 via the partnership between the Colombian agroindustrial group, Manuelita and the Chilean Coihuín Holding Ltda. Taking the operations of Inversiones Coihuín Limitada as a starting point -company dedicated to the cultivation of mussels since 2003 on the island of Chiloé (X Region)- a project was developed that considers a vertically integrated operation across the value chain of the business.
We have 250 hectares of concessions at sea, in the cold, pure, deep waters of southern Chile. Our staff is highly qualified and we are using the latest technology and knowledge in the field to produce natural and tasty mussels.
Mejillones América recently built its processing plant in the coastal area of Huelmo, 30 km. from the city of Puerto Montt, in front of one of our grow-out centers. Said plant of 5,000 m2 is implemented with the highest global standards in process technology and frozen food.
