WinGD is a leading developer of low-speed Gas and Diesel engines used for propulsion power in merchant shipping. These engines are utilized for the propulsion of all types of deep-sea ships world-wide, such as oil and product tankers, bulk carriers, car carriers, general cargo ships and container ships. The company continues the long tradition of the Sulzer Diesel Engine business founded in 1898. WinGD's headquarters is located in Winterthur, Switzerland. WinGD has extensive state-of-the-art research and training facilities at its Diesel Technology Centre located in Oberwinterthur. WinGD is owned by China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).
The majority of the WinGD staff in Switzerland is located at the office premises in the centre of Winterthur, working on all aspects of research and development (R&D), design, operational and manufacturing support, marketing and sales. Currently, there are more than 340 people working at WinGD worldwide.
