Sandanger AS was established in 1932 and is located in Gjerdsvika in Ålesund. The origins of what today is one of Norway's largest seafood producers, was a general store and a farm where it was produced meat and fish canning. In 1948, the company chose to expand production to include other fish. Later, in the 1970s went to only the company to concentrate on fish products.
Sandanger AS and Maritim Food AS has worked since 1997, a cooperation which has now been formalized by ownership. Maritim Food is a production company with emphasis on the processing of fish, smoked and cured salmon, mackerel, shellfish as well as dressings and salads. Turnover at Maritim was 210 million in 2008 and 100 million in Sandanger.
Sandanger housed in environmentally friendly facilities and it is carried out significant investments in modern production equipment.
The basic philosophy of business is: Through the production and distribution of packaged seafood products would Sandanger to meet consumer demands for price, the quality and availability in the best possible way.
