Froid des Mascareignes Ltée (FDM) is one of the constituent elements of the IBL Seafood Hub.
FDM was established in 1997 as a modern, privately-owned integrated seafood handling & storage complex situated in the Port Louis harbour Freeport Zone.
The facility has 350 metres of quays which provide safe mooring for reefer carriers and fishing vessels of up to 125 metres in length and 8 metres draft.
16 cold rooms, aggregating some 16 500 tonnes in capacity, are available for conservation of sea produce. Two of these compartments provide -40°C storage, whilst the others are suitable for storage at -20°C.
A fleet of 18 forklifts, 18 electric reach trucks and more than 15 000 storage bins constitute the backbone of the deployed logistics.
The FDM facility also comprises a blast freezer, four sorting lines and a weighbridge. It satisfies the norms and directives laid down by the European Union and fully complies with HACCP requirements.
Together with its associated in-house freeport operator, Transfroid Ltée, FDM provides a comprehensive range of services ranging from stevedoring and product handling to container stuffing/unstuffing and export logistics, including processing of customs formalities.
