Jangaard was founded in 1931. In 1960 it was taken over by new owners who ensured its continued operation based on tradition and experience of the fish trade. In the years that followed, new companies were added to the business. Today the main activities of the group are production, trade and the provision of services. The group has seven fish production plants for salted fish, stockfish, fresh fish and fillets. The real-estate division comprises indoor tennis courts, hotels, shopping centres and engineering services. The head office is situated in the centre of Ålesund.
The Kleivane and Nordmøre Fiskeindustri plants have specialised in the drying of fish using modern equipment developed by Portuguese experts. Vevang, Stamsund, Henningsvær, Framnes and Gjesvær produce wet-salted fish. Our production plants are situated close to the fishing banks along the Norwegian coast. Our products include: fresh fish, frozen fish, wet-salted fish, dry-salted fish, stockfish and cod roe. Total production area: 41,400 square metres.
Jangaard has different brands on different markets. Packing sizes vary from cartons of between 9 and 25 kilos to 50-kilo wooden boxes. We also deliver 20 and 50-pound cartons to the Carribean market.
