The Hoos Handels GmbH was founded by Klaus and Martin Hoos in Upper Austria in 1994, initially to trade with pike-perch from Russia. It quickly appeared that processing plants in Russia did not meet the European directives at this time, so that an own processing plant with the latest standards was formed.
The Homa GmbH has been producing pike-perch fillets and has been exporting them to the EU since 1994. When the European directive for fish processing became effective in 1997 a new factory location was built up in the outskirts of St. Petersburg. Our factory was one of the first companies which received the covet EU certification.
Until 2001 we finally managed to become one of the leading pike-perch fillet producers with an annual production of 3600 t, whereby we have always adjusted the kind of delivery to the permanently growing market. The handling of these amounts and the compliance with highest quality standards at the same time is only possible when the fish can be stored optimally. Therefore we decided to build a new deep-freeze warehouse for 6000 t which came on stream in 2003.
