Sea Protein S.A. is an aquaculture company established as a natural extension of Fibras Industriales S.A – world leader in the manufacturing of fishing nets, ropes, twine and floats for the aquaculture and fishing industries.
After dedicated efforts to develop an expertise in scallop farming, through contracting the best aquaculture professionals, attending international conferences in Canada and Chile and visiting scallop farms in Chile and Japan, farming was initiated in April 2006 in 86.7 hectares in the Bay of Samanco ( 10 Km. south of Chimbote).
Sea Protein possesses over 1,000 hectares of sea for suspended farming of scallops in different areas along the Peruvian coastline. Our export production for 2007 was just below 100 tones of Roe On scallops in large and medium sized counts (10/20, 20/30 and 30/40). During 2008 we expect to produce over 180 tones of scallops and by 2010 we aim to reach a yearly export rate surpassing 1,000 tones.
