Maters Transportation Huissen was founded in 1889 by Gerrit Jan Maters. In the 60's Maters began transporting concrete and is still one of the largest carriers in the field of precast concrete elements in the Netherlands.

When Maters Huissen in the early 90s got into the temperature controlled fish transport from Urk to Italy and Spain, there was a need for a strong base in Urk.
