Scanmar is the pioneer amongst producers of Catch control systems, and 25 years ago more than 1000 systems had already been installed on fishing and research vessels all over the world.
Since then Scanmar has spent 400 million NOK on development of new technology, which has not only resulted in the new sensors being even more robust than before, but also a considerable increase in the operating time of the sensors between each charging.
The most important development is still the information the new systems provide about the trawl doors’ angle movements and distance, the trawl’s speed through the water, waterflow through the trawl and a precise indication of filling in the bag at any given time during the haul, not just when the catch sensors are activated.
The new functions have meant a lot for the fishermen and their economy, especially in relation to efficiency, but particularly in saved fuel costs.
Scanmar has also delivered equipment to the offshore industry and for other challenging purposes.
