Aquamar S.A. was founded in 1981 as a company dedicated to white shrimp aquaculture. During the growth of its operations as a shrimp farm, Aquamar S.A. reached a production quota of 55,000 pounds of white shrimp per week. In 1997 with a strategic plan focused on the production of shrimp and tilapia in polyculture, it went through major investments to convert the farm for the production of tilapia. In August 2003, Aquamar S.A. found the need to build its own processing plant to process fresh and frozen fillets and whole fish. Since it began its operations, Aquamar S.A. has maintained its leadership in the production, processing and marketing of tilapia and shrimp polyculture.
