The Instituto Tecnológico Pesquero del Peru (ITP) is an organization of internal public law which is part of National Public Sector under the Ministry of Production. This research institution has the primary purpose strive to ensure better utilization of fisheries resources, aimed at developing higher value-added products and promoting the improvement of sanitary and hygiene conditions in the fisheries and aquaculture activities in the country.
From this perspective, the specific objectives of ITP include improved and innovative utilization of marine fisheries and inland water, the constant search for value-added diversification of exportable products, the use of underutilized resources, development of human resources in science and technology and the exercise of the function of monitoring and sanitary control of the fishing industry to contribute in an integrated manner, improve the technological level of the domestic fishery.
The work of the ITP includes, therefore, applied research and development for the use of a wide variety of technologies and products, market research, transfer of technology through technical assistance and training services specialized technology, the implementation of projects for the promotion and development, scientific and technological publications and national and international technical cooperation.
