A/S Læsø Fiskeindustri, which is the world’s leading producer of scampi, is located on the island of Læsø, in the middle of the Kattegat.
Apart from scampi, A/S Læsø Fiskeindustri also produces and distributes a range of delicious brine products, fillets and smoked products.
A/S Læsø Fiskeindustri was founded in 1963 when a group of fishermen, and a few other people from outside the fish industry, went together to establish the company which today is Europe’s foremost producer of scampi. The continuously growing demand for scampi meant that it became necessary, and also economically viable for this, then small, local company on the island of Læsø to begin to establish itself in other places. I 1998 a subsidiary was established in Peterhead, Scotland producing and exporting scampi for the southern European markets.
A/S Læsø Fiskeindustri is owned by some 285 shareholders.
