The Wong Group has 27 stores in Lima (12 Wong Supermarkets, 9 Metro Hypermarkets and 6 Metro Supermarkets) and it is the market leader with more than 69% market shares. It is well-known in the supermarket business for introducing the concept of “personalized self-service” which has positioned itself as one of the leaders in service worldwide. Wong has been awarded some of the most important Peruvian national prizes due to its permanent innovation and the great quality and variety of its more than 50,000 kinds of products. It has been awarded the “Premio a la Creatividad en el Servicio al Cliente” twice (Customer Service Creativity Award) -  the most important innovation award, granted by the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas, Instituto Nacional de Defensa de la Competencia y de la Protección de la Propiedad Intelectual – INDECOPI, Diario El Comercio, Panamericana Televisión and RadioProgramas del Perú in its first (1996) and second (1997) awardings. Additionally, the president of the Wong Group, Erasmo Wong, has been appointed “El Empresario del Año” (Businessman of the Year) (award granted by the IPAE- Instituto Peruano de Administración de Empresas 1992).
