Prior to setting up a Hatchery, Dunmanus were exporters of Sea Urchins to the French and British markets. This phase lasted about 10 years and due to the continuous drop in exports year after year it became impossible to continue. The Company decided to start producing juvenile seaurchins to be on-grown at sea 11 years ago in 1994. The business has gradually grown to the point that in 2004 for the first time more than 1 million juvenile seaurchins were successfully grown to 25mm +
