World Aquaculture Institute (WAI) organization is dedicated to innovative research that promotes global nutrition, developing medicines to cure cancer and infectious diseases, regrowing the worlds fin fish supply in land-based aquaculture facilities and the protection to the oceans and the environment. WAI, was started in 1994, and acquired Southeastern Massachusetts Aquaculture Products, Inc. (the Massachusetts Strategic Plan for Aquaculture) in 1999 and developed with the Urban Aquaculture Development Center into World Aquaculture Institute, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. WAI will be working in association with the University of Rhode Island, Department of Fisheries, Animal & Veterinary Science, the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth, Northeast Regional Aquaculture Center, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, and Massachusetts General Hospital. WAI's advisory resident scholars and fellows include some of America's foremost scientists, doctors, medical researches and experts. WAI scholars are augmented by a network of more than one hundred adjunct scholars at universities and medical research facilities throughout the United States and the World.
