Following a call for “Competition Cluster’’ initiated by the government in November 2004, agrifood and biotech companies of the Nord-Pas de Calais Region and research and training institutions in the field of biohealth joined forces to apply within the scope of the ‘‘Nutrition, Healthcare, Longevity’’. Health foods and food supplements can be found at the heart of this project, as vectors in the prevention of diseases related to metabolic disorders and ageing such as diabetes, obesity, hypertension, etc. With new health strategies closely combining prevention and treatment, the project also a therapeutic and drug innovation dimension The Cluster was accredited in July 2005 The association is composed of 69 members of which a Committee of Certification for projects with 9 members in charge of the certification of R&D collaborative projects.
