Konzum d.d. is Croatia's largest supermarket chain with just over 700 stores open in Croatia and has more than 12,000 employees. Its headquarters are in Zagreb. Konzum stores can also be found in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia. Konzum receives over 650,000 customers each day. Konzum also founded drugstores known as KOZMO in July 2005, which was sold December 31, 2009 to the Nexus ALPHA fund, and at that time was owned 42 stores with 242 employees. Konzum is part of the Agrokor company.
1957 The first Konzum store was opened in Zagreb.
1970 Unikonzum was established by joining four retail chain stores: Crnomerec, Konzum, Moslavka and Slavonia. Since then it has expanded into Croatia's biggest supermarket chain, Its business has grown a lot since Croatia broke off of former Yugoslavia.
1994 Konzum joined the Agrokor group
1995 changed the name of Unikonzum back again in the Konzum. Restructured its operations according to the project by the consultant and introduces EPoS application.
2002, Konzum completed the acquisition of Alastor, the third largest food retailer in Croatia.
2008, Konzum had a turnover of 13.9 billion kuna (1.9 billion euro).
