Cela fait 25 ans que la Commission de l'Océan Indien se bat pour défendre les intérêts des îles du Sud-Est de l'Océan Indien, leurs spécificités économiques, sociales, géographiques et biologiques et leur identité régionale, pour accompagner le développement durable et harmonieux de la région. Organisation intergouvernementale créée en 1984 par l'Accord Général de Victoria (Seychelles), la Commission de l'Océan Indien (COI) regroupe cinq Etats membres: Comores, France (La Réunion), Madagascar, Maurice et Seychelles. Organisation intergouvernementale des Îles du Sud-Est de l'Océan Indien dont le siège est basé à Maurice. Actuellement l'Ambassadeur Callixte d'Offay en est le Secrétaire Général. La présidence annuelle tournante est assurée depuis juin 2010 par Maurice. Le secrétariat général est composé de cinq chargés de mission (un par Etat membre) qui en assurent le fonctionnement et gèrent le suivi des projets financés par des bailleurs des fonds et partenaires. -------------- Intergovernmental organization Islands Southeast Indian Ocean with its headquarters based in Mauritius. Currently Ambassador Callixte d'Offay is the Secretary General. The annual rotating presidency is assured since June 2010 by Maurice. The General Secretariat is composed of five members of the mission (one per Member State) that ensure the operation and manage the monitoring of projects funded by donors and funding partners.
