Le Palais de la Porte Dorée remains open to the public: the main hall, lounges and Reynaud Lyautey and the function hall are accessible to visitors.
The permanent museum of the colonies was built in 1931 in the framework of the International Colonial Exhibition. The only building to survive after the closing of this event, the building was conceived as a means of spreading the colonial to the general public, both by its architectural organization, based on the pomp and representation, as its iconography and museum.
