From a strategic standpoint, the Tunisian government has carried out two strategies for aquaculture development: the Master Plan for Aquaculture "PDA" (1996-2006) and the National Strategy for Aquaculture Development (2007-2016 ). The PDA has estimated the potential and the target production for each sector and specified the development strategies to achieve this potential. The national strategy for aquaculture development (2007-2016) was focused mainly on encouraging private promoters through the strengthening of financial incentives (exemption from customs duties and VAT for imported equipment etc...) and the creation of the Technical Center of Aquaculture "CTA" which assume aquaculture technologies transfer and promoters support.
