30 Days after the tragedy in the Gulf, the Friends of the Fishermen Fund was officially endorsed by the Louisiana Seafood Promotion & Marketing Board, a program under the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. All donations are collected and administered by South Central Development & Planning Commission, a 501c1 organization. Louisiana Seafood Promotion & Marketing Board chose this commission based on their exemplary work distributing funds following Hurricane Katrina directly to fishermen.
