We are raising Freshwater Pacific Coho in closed contained, recirculating tanks on land, which allows for a very controlled environment and the ability to address many of the problems traditional farmed salmon methods are experiencing.
Here are some highlights:
Waste – We filter everything and the water is recycled. The effluent is used for fertilizer at local farms.
Escapement (largely goes unreported) - Unless these fish grow legs or learn how to fly, I think we're covered.
Disease and Parasites – No potential damage to wild salmon stocks
Chemicals – We produce disease free fish without using any antibiotics or pesticides
Feed/Food – We have minimal impact on marine resources and have a great feed conversation ratio as per Monterey Bay Seafood Watch
