The project was consolidated ALSUM May 6, 2011, when Chartis offices in Miami, Gabriel Fabrega, Xavier Pazmino, Mauricio de la Guardia, Erika Schoch, Fabricio Campos, James Garcia, Maria Fernanda Alonso, David Goldbaum, Rodrigo Amengual Umaña and Leonardo met and developed the first strategic planning exercise that allowed write the statutes of the Association.
The Latin American Association of Marine Underwriters - ALSUM-was conceived as a non-profit foundation, capitalized insurance and reinsurance companies with a presence in Latin America, national and multinational capital.
ALSUM Foundation is an organization dedicated to providing information, training, and certification exams scenarios discussion community marine insurance subscribers in Latin America. ALSUM services also extend to insurance brokers, adjusters, risk managers, attorneys, logistics and generally to all companies or professionals interested in the business of freight transportation and logistics and insurance.
ALSUM has the approval of several insurance associations such as the International Union of Marine Underwriters IUMI based in Switzerland, the Insurance Association of Panama APADEA, the Mexican Association of Insurance AMIS, the Colombian Federation of Insurers and FASECOLDA American Federation of Insurance Companies FIDES.
