Our company, West Coast Abalone, farms Haliotis midae abalone in a natural and sustainable manner, starting with sperm and egg. Our farm is situated in St. Helena Bay, 160 km north of Cape Town. The cold Benguela current supplies nutrient rich pristine cold waters to our abalone, who feed on abundant kelp growing in the same area. The abalone are fed natural kelp as well as a high-protein formulated food. A strategic partnership was formed with a kelp harvesting company to ensure consistent supply of kelp for the abalone.
West Coast Abalone grows our abalone for 4 to 5 years before harvesting, ensuring a succulent juicy and tender meat. By using careful farming technology including bio-security we are able to ensure healthy, natural and high quality product all year around. We have a track record of growing and selling abalone since 1998.
