CODELCO Chile - Corporación Nacional del Cobre

Codelco is the largest producer of copper in the world and has, moreover, about twenty percent of world reserves of copper. Codelco's name represents the Corporación Nacional del Cobre de Chile, an independent company owned by the Chilean State, whose primary business is the exploration, development and exploitation of mineral resources of copper and by-products processing to convert them into refined copper, and its subsequent marketing. It has its own assets over U.S. 20.279 million and equity in 2010 amounted to U.S. $ 4.531millones. Codelco, in 2010, produced 1.76 million metric tons of refined copper (including participation in the El Abra deposit). This corresponds to 11% of world production. Its main product is commercial grade A copper cathode The company runs its operations through six mining divisions plus Windows Smelter and Refinery, owned by Codelco in May 2005. Its corporate strategy is coordinated from the headquarters located in Santiago, Chile.
