The Ceylon Fisheries Corporation was established in 1964 under the State Industrial Corporations Act. No.49 of 1957 and commenced its commercial operations in 1965. At the commencement, the objectives of the Corporation covered the entire fisheries sectors.
The pricing policy of Ceylon Fisheries Corporation was determined in order to ensure affordable prices to consumers which are much below the average market prices.
The Budget proposed for 2012 is formulated in keeping with the policy of the Government, Ministry and Ceylon Fisheries Corporation to assure that CFC would fulfill it’s responsibilities towards the general public by assuring quality fish at an affordable prices freely available at stalls throughout the island.
