CSAV acquired Norasia, allowing it to enter the main East-West trades, while maintaining its focus on its other activities. Since the acquisition, Norasia has grown dramatically, backed by CSAV’s resources. An early focus was on the Asia to Europe trade but rapid expansion saw Norasia become a key player in the East-West trades, extending its reach across the Pacific and across the Atlantic. CSAV NORASIA is the result of the integration of CSAV and Norasia. The integration of our brands allows us to deliver more effective and reliable shipping solutions. Through this integration we ensure that we stand by our values, in all our global locations. Knowledge, commitment, proactivity, and professionalism are not just words but the principles that comprise our identity that, once implanted in the marketplace, will allow us to become an essential part of our customers value chain. CSAV NORASIA maintains a container fleet of both owned and leased containers. The fleet is mainly composed of standard dry containers—20 foot and 40 foot—reefers, and specialized containers.
Compañía Sudamericana de Vapores (CSAV) is a Chilean shipping company. Founded in 1872, it is one of the oldest shipping companies in the world and, currently, one of the largest in Latin America.
In 1999, Brazilian shipping company Libra became part of CSAV and, in 2003, Uruguayan company Montemar Marítima S.A. also became part of the Company, thus consolidating strong presence along the East Coast of South America towards the main destinations in the world. In turn, by integrating CSAV and Norasia in June 2000, the Company was able to enter the main East-West routes. Currently, CSAV Norasia operates in more than 50 countries and has direct departures from the main ports of Asia, Europe, India and the Middle East.
