From the company’s invention of the first commercially successful hydraulic hand lift truck in 1934, to the first narrow aisle truck – the Model 700 Space Maker – in 1951 and to the first widely accepted AC-powered reach truck in North America, Raymond is dedicated to developing products that improve the efficiency of our customers warehousing and distribution operations. In 1997, BT Industries of Sweden acquired The Raymond Corporation. Toyota Industries Corporation of Japan acquired BT Industries in 2000, making Raymond part of the Toyota Materials Handling Group. Combined, the three companies make up the largest lift truck manufacturer in the world. Raymond continues to retain its own brand, products, and distribution with sites in Greene, New York; Brantford, Ontario; Muscatine, Iowa and Syracuse, New York. The Corporation is ISO 9001 and 140001 registered. In 2001, on the 50th Anniversary of its introduction of the first narrow aisle lift truck, Raymond introduced the first AC-powered Reach-Fork truck built in North America, taking the materials handling industry to new heights for the 21st Century.
