The origins of AUCOSA go back to 1959 in the avenue of Orillamar of the Bouzas neighborhood in Vigo (Pontevedra). At the initiative of some of the most important companies in the Galician canning industry, Auxiliar Conservera is created to meet the needs of its members. In 1966, a modern fishmeal and fish oil factory was established to process the byproducts that were generated after the manufacture of canned and other processed fish. In 1967, our activity expanded towards the provision of fish storage and freezing services with a modern cold storage facility on the same avenue in Orillamar. In 1976, the flour and oil manufacturing activity was transferred from Vigo to the neighboring town of Chapela (Redondela). Already in the 90's AUCOSA promotes the largest and best equipped refrigeration facility so far: Frigoríficos Oya -Frioya- in which it has remained as a reference shareholder until February 2017. At present, the company is one of the most important fishmeal and fish oil manufacturing industries in Spain. At present, the fishmeal and fish oil factory is being renovated to adapt it to the most rigid production and environmental standards to become one of the most modern and efficient factories in Europe.
