April 2018 - URK - The Urk fish company Rodi BV on the Marsdiep is taken over by the local Kramer Fish. The companions Dirk Hogerwerf and Ronnie Hoefnagel stop from 20 April. Rodi was started up in 1991 by fellow filmmakers Hogerwerf and Hoefnagel and grew over the years into one of Urk's largest plaice processors. The fish processing on the work floor is outsourced to its own temporary employment agency Reaal Fish. With two filleting machines, an average of 30 workers are offered work.
At the start of this year, Hogerwerf was forced to offer its company for sale at a meeting of the Association of Fish Wholesalers Urk. After 27 years as a processor and middleman, the motivation has disappeared to continue independently. ,, It is no longer fun in the trade; little plaice supply and high prices '', says Hogerwerf. Iede Kramer from Kramer Fish reported as a potential buyer, signed last week. Hogerwerf continues to work as a manager.
Iede Kramer from Kramer Fish has acquired a handful of processing plants on Urk in recent years and became co-owner of the cutter P 224 'Miranda' two years ago.(Source: visserijnieuws.nl)
