Ahrenhorster Edelfisch produces 120 tonnes of European wels (catfish) each year. The team around the founder Hermann Otto-Lübker see to it every day that the fish are cared for over their entire life-span. That brings rewards: the company leads in the indoor production of wels. Conscientious eating means more than just healthy foods. Characteristics such as the CO2 balance are increasingly important. The Ahrenhorster Wels Filet is not flown across continents. It is not frozen using a large amount of energy. The husbandry system uses little added water or energy. A low stress slaughter procedure is used and resources are conserved. No wild sea fish are used for feed.
