APL was founded in 1993 to develop and comercialise the Submerged Turret Loading (STL) and the Submerged Turret Production (STP) systems. The development of the STL technology was a result of a demand in the marked for loading systems with high availability in harsh environments. The loading systems available in the market at the time had clear limitations with respect to operation in bad weather conditions. Today both systems are well established as the world´s first standarized turret systems. In 2007, APL became a part of BW Offshore, one of the world`s leading FPSO contractors. BW Offshore has more than 25 years’ experience and has successfully delivered 14 FPSO projects around the world.
