Fishworks is a specialist fish restaurant chain and currently has four restaurants and fishmongers operating in the UK. Three being in London and one in the West Country.
Boparan Ventures, a Birmingham-based company co-owned by Mr Boparan, bought the stores from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) in a so-called pre-pack deal in 2008. PWC were appointed administrators to the 10-chain restaurant group just hours before.
FishWorks' own management team also tried to buy a handful of stores, but were pipped by Boparan Ventures. FishWorks' shareholders include Channel 4 chairman Luke Johnson, who held an 11.1pc stake.
Mr Boparan also owns the West Bromwich-based Two Sisters Food Group, which is among the country's biggest chicken processors and is best known for its Buxted and Devonshire Red brands, as well as supplying own-label products to supermarkets including Marks & Spencer and Tesco.
