The company was established in December 2007 following a strong desire to start production of stockfish and roe in northern Norway, while seeing the need to ensure production and delivery to the industry in general. Up to now, the national production of the salmon and trout industry has mainly taken place in central and southern Norway, which has been a disadvantage for the industry locally and throughout the northern part of the country. Salten Stamfisk has a close cooperation with Salmobreed AS and has since 2009 had a license agreement for the production of the Salmobreed tribe.
