Slow Fish, the International fair dedicated to the marine world and aquatic ecosystems, is back from 9 to 12 May 2013 in Genoa. The event, which takes place every two years and has now reached its sixth edition, will be offering conferences, meetings, workshops and taste sessions, revolving around issues relating to the sustainable production of fish and responsible consumption. Slow Fish is organized by the Liguria Region and Slow Food, with the support of the Carige Foundation, Genoa Province, Genoa Chamber of Commerce and the City of Genoa.
This year, the theme of Slow Fish is Small-scale Fishers: A Threatened Species. After focusing on fish in its past edition, Slow Fish 2013 will be putting people center stage. The event will retrace the history of artisanal fishing, looking at its legacy, the cultures it influenced, its opportunities and difficulties. Special attention will be given to small-scale fishing to understand its modernization, how it relates to the world and how it has been damaged by globalization.
