The inspiration for the Basileus Group's name has been derived from the Emperor Penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri), a large Penguin species found in Antarctica. The Emperor Penguin is the only penguin species that breeds during the Antarctic winter. With temperatures reaching -40 degrees Centigrade and wind speeds reaching 108 knots (200 kilometers per hour) the male species incubate and protect the egg while the female penguins leave to feed. During this time the Emperor Penguin fast for up to 115 days while waiting their turn to leave the colony and feed. This demonstrates tremendous commitment, determination and responsibility.
