The National Conference on Weights and Measures (NCWM) is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to developing the U.S. standards for weights and measures. As such, NCWM leadership consists of volunteers who serve on our Board of Directors and committees. NCWM is governed by Bylaws as adopted by membership and policies as set by the Board of Directors. NCWM has three standing committees. The Specifications and Tolerances Committee develops the specifications, tolerances and other technical requirements for weighing and measuring devices as published in NIST Handbook 44. The Laws and Regulations Committee develops the model laws and regulations as published in NIST Handbook 130 and procedures for checking net contents of packaged goods as published in NIST Handbook 133. The Professional Development Committee promotes training and certification of individuals in all areas of weights and measures.
