The Society of Israeli Aquaculture and Marine Biotechnology SIAMB was created with its main goal being to support "The Israeli Journal of Aquaculture – Bamidgeh" (ISSN 0792-156X), which is now available free as an open-access publication from our website (http://www.siamb.org.il ) The transformation of the journal to open-access in 2011 has resulted in a tremendous increase in world- wide readership with over 900 registered members at present. In addition, our organization continues to support and organize workshops and scientific symposia which combine both scientific and practical knowledge, in order to improve our understanding of aquaculture and help the aquaculture industry. We hope that through these activities we will succeed in building a bridge between the academic community and industry, researchers and field experts.
