Altogether about 40 people work at the factory (whelk- and scallop factories) when the produstion are running at full capacity.
Our production flow is an extremely important process in getting the best quality of the raw shrimp, scallops and whelk.
All scallops and whelk which are processed by O. C. Joensen, are caught in the waters surrounding the Faroe Islands by our 2 trawlers VARÐBORG and NORÐHEIM
Our fresh scallops come exclusively from our own ship "Norðheim", which is associated with our scallop factory. In this way we are self-sufficient in gathering our raw materials for scallop processing. "Norðheim" fishes between 4,000 and 5,000 tons of scallops per year. This corresponds to more than 300 tons of finished product.
