They are the second largest supermarket chain in the Northeast and the fourth largest in Brazil. They are present in the states of Sergipe, Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará and Pernambuco, through supermarkets, hypermarkets, pharmacies and electro shows.
In November 2007, Cencosud underwent an expansion process which allowed it to enter the most important market in South America: Brazil, through the acquisition of the GBarbosa supermarket chain. This supermarket chain has supermarkets and superstores in Northeast Brazil and 46 stores, which are distributed between the states of Alagoas, Bahia and Sergipe. The operation involved the transfer of all the company’s shares, the acquisition of the company’s capital assets, stock, personnel, marketing rights, brands, and all those assets that guarantee the company’s proper management.
