Altomar started its activity buying and selling dried cod fish in Portugal 20 years ago. Since there was a high demand for quality, soon Altomar venture on buying dried cod at Norway, Iceland and Canada. However, the dried cod fish bought from those countries was not as good as the Portuguese tradition demanded. Since the standards for Altomar were those of the Portuguese tradition, this company started importing wet cod fish and produce it in Portugal. This cod fish was brought to companies that could produce the high quality cod fish Altomar demanded. ____________________ A Altomar Lda. iniciou a sua actividade há 20 anos atrás na compra e venda de bacalhau salgado seco no mercado nacional.Devido à exigência de qualidade, rapidamente a Altomar se aventurou na compra de bacalhau salgado seco na Noruega, Islândia e Canadá. No entanto, o tratamento dado ao bacalhau nestes países não vai de encontro às exigências da tradição Portuguesa e que sempre foram referências para a Altomar. Assim, começou também a importar bacalhau salgado verde e a transformá-lo em empresas especializadas, que lhe conferiam a qualidade exigida pela Altomar.
