The Paul G. Allen Family Foundation is a private foundation located at in Seattle, Washington. Their mission is to transform individual lives and strengthen communities by fostering innovation, creating knowledge, and promoting social progress. Paul Allen's sister Jody Allen is the co-founder and president of the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation.
Established in 1996 to administer Paul Allen's giving, the Foundation awards approximately $30 million in grants annually. Roughly 60 percent of the Foundation's money goes to non-profit organizations in Seattle and the state of Washington and 12 percent to Portland, Oregon. The remaining 28 percent is distributed to other cities within the Pacific Northwest.
The areas where the Foundation focuses giving include arts and culture, community development and social change, science and technology, and youth engagement.
