Great Glacier Salmon Ltd. is located on the Stikine River in Northern BC. It is an isolated facility, which operates from June 14 - October 15 (depending on Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) fish openings). Due to its location, all staff are housed on the premises and are available 24 hours a day for handling and processing salmon. Great Glacier Salmon has been in operation for 31 years and has successfully implemented and monitored a Quality Management Program Plan according to all DFO Standards. Great Glacier Salmon purchases product from local fishers who deliver their catch several times per day as the fishing grounds are minutes away from the facility. Great Glacier Salmon requires all its fishers to hold their fish on sluch ice after they are bled. They were a forerunner in establishing these "on the grounds" quality measures.
