Pubnico Trawlers Ltd. began in 1978 as a groundfish harvesting company with one 45' wooden trawler fishing the banks off the Nova Scotia coast and the Bay of Fundy. Three employees, consisting of company president and captain, George Cunningham plus two crew members, fished the Atlantic waters for the next four years until a decision was made in 1982 to enter the groundfish processing business.
Today Pubnico Trawlers operates from a 4,000 square foot H.A.C.C.P. approved fish processing plant located at Pubnico, in the southern Nova Scotia.
Fully licensed and government inspected the company employs a staff of 25 local residents with many years experience in the fish processing business.
All North American and international markets are easily accessed through a variety of transport resources. Most notably, the international sea and air port of Halifax, Nova Scotia just 200 kms. away.
Production:
90% salted and dried fish
75% Cod fish
Balance of product mix is made up of Pollock, Hake, Cusk and Mackerel.
10% of production is fresh/frozen
Product arrives in trailers from Western United States, Canada or New England and is defrosted, salted, dried and packaged ready for shipment.
